12 Traditional Tattoos by Phil DeAngulo for Animal Lovers

Because, let's face it, animals are just better...

At this point, we’d like to think it’s fairly safe to say that animals are just generally better than people. Animals are loyal, they don’t start fights unless it directly correlates to pure animal instinct or the food chain, and they aren’t political. If you’ve ever had a pet you can attest to the fact that most of the time, aside from the obvious wild animals, all they care about is pleasing you. So yes, it’s true. Animals are damn near perfect, and well deserving of a tattoo inspired by them.

Artist Phil DeAngulo of Brooklyn’s Allied Tattoo is well aware of this, and truly encapsulates the perfection of both wild and domesticated animals with his bold traditional tattoos. Covering multiple classes and species, DeAngulo’s animals are both fearsome and friendly, cuddly and creepy, but regardless of their nature, their common thread is the beauty of each tattoo. Taking care in even the tiniest of details (note the whiskers on the black panther, or the snaggletooth on the older dog) the artistry comes together to create animal tattoos that rival the beauty of their real-life counterparts. So the next time you’re in Brooklyn, and looking to immortalize your favorite animal, or even your pet, look no further than Phil DeAngulo.
