It's this time of the year where we pause our busy lives to commemorate and recall the fun days when we were with our departed loved ones.
In Mexico, All Soul's day or what they call Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the dead) is celebrated by remembering the dead in a colorful and lively way, as opposed to all the gloom we feel when we miss our dearly departeds. It is a holiday that focuses on family & friends' gatherings where they pray for and remember their departed loved ones. Dia de los Muertos is celebrated from October 31 to November 2, in connection with the Christians' All Hallow's eve. Traditions include building a private altar, creating and painting colorful sugar skulls to honor the deceased, and bringing the dead's favorite foods and beverages to the grave as offering. The day of the dead is being celebrated all over the world by different cultures and tribes, for it is somehow a universal belief that the souls of our dearly departed never die and they shall live in our hearts for ever.
