37 Gorgeous Fox Tattoos
Animals are always a good tattoo idea as we all have our totem. But one of them is particularly trendy around the web: the fox.
An obvious choice to symbolize cunning and nature, the Red fox is also in many civilisations an incarnation of wisdom, magic and even sex: indeed « foxy » means at the same time malicious and sexy.
In Asia, the fox is a common tattoo design with a distinctive feature : nine tails (or another number). It refers to a legend coming from India and settled in Japan where foxes are named Kitsune. Female demons serving Fertility Goddess Inari, they are earning new tails as they grow old. The are also masters of transformation and trickery. In Native American and Nordic civilizations, foxes are often named Tricksters, creatures using their magic power to bewitch humans. They can be represented with a third eye.
In Occident, fox tattoos are mostly influenced by children's literature and dressed as humans, like in Roald Dahl’s novel and Wes Anderson’s movie Fantastic Mister Fox.
Not necessarily full of sense, fox tattoos are also liked by animals lovers for their bright colors and cute aspect, as a softer version of the wolf tattoos. Here is a selection of the greatest fox tattoos that can be found on the internet.
