Tribute To Grandparents
This month of September, which is also National Grandparent's Month, we will pay our tribute to our dear grandparents the Tattoodo way.
They are the people who are most like our parents, only with more cookies and endless stories. They are also the ones whose hips almost broke from chasing us on their front porches, the ones who would sit us on their laps and tell us stories from 19-who-knows-when, and the ones who would send us home sixteen-pounds heavier from all the stuff they would shove down our mouths whenever we come to visit. When we fight with our parents, and our friends won't understand us, we run to them for their comfort. Even some of us who are all grown up with lives of their own still cling to their grandparents once in a while to relive that childhood feeling, when the world gets too rough on them. SEE ALSO: 9/11 Memorial Tattoos Gramma, Grampa, Granny, Pops, Abuela, Abuelo, Franny, Papa, Ye Ye, Lola, Lolo, Oma, Opa, Maman, Mawmaw, Papi or whatever way you may call them, they do fully deserve our love and respect for the tireless compassion they have shown us. Some of us may have lost one or both of our grandparents, but there are ways to keep their memories alive. Featured here are tattoos from grandkids who showed their appreciation through the beautiful art of tattoos.

Some go with simple tribute tattoo with a deeper meaning such as this tiny one. The heart locket tattooed on the client's arm was said to be the first jewelry her grandfather ever gave to her grandmother and was then passed on to her.
This design consists of two things that I will always love in my life. Music/Sound and my grandmother. At my grandparents surprise wedding anniversary party in Scotland, my grandmother said the words “If I live till I’m a hundred, I’ll never forget it” when she was handed the microphone.
She had cancer and passed away soon afterwards.
Simply, I took the audio wave-form, did some noise reduction so you could see the transients, and then had it tattooed on my fore-arm, with all the words written below. As seen here.
The client wanted a canary for her grandmother, who used to raise the bird and a rose for her grandfather who developed Alzheimer's before he passed away. Done by Jules Croucher at Ink Spot Tattoos & Piercings in Christchurch, New Zealand.
And finally, here is Frank Iero (former guitarist of My Chemical Romance), with his memorial tattoo for his grandfather, done by the amazing Kat Von D.
