40 Abstract Surreal Tattoos By Jean-François (Jef) Palumbo
Jean-François (Jef) Palumbo is a Belgian tattoo artist whose work is the most original and contemporary that I have ever seen in ink.
Jef discovered a major passion for Surrealism, before he left the Saint Lukas art school in Brussels because the tuition fees were too high, around twenty years ago (give or take).
Much like his Belgium forefather, Rene Magritte and the master Surrealists of the 1920’s such as Max Ernst, Salvador Dalí and Man Ray; Palumbo is best known for his juxtaposition of ordinary objects in unusual context giving familiar objects new translations as seen in his work. The quirky, dreamlike vision he cooks up in his head, combined with his conceptual designs and street art succeed in raising ink to the realm of high art.
His tattoos are a colorful, fantastical world where images coexist with serigraphy, graffiti, stenciling and different graphic elements of modern iconography. In my opinion, a master artist, as seen in his works of true art!
