I Married A Tattoo Addict

Xavier in Stories

When you're a nice little housewife, perfectly content with your quiet life in an English suburb, you're probably not prepared for that.

To wake up one day to find a man you can barely recognize, sleeping on your husband's side of the bed. Except it's not some maniac but it really is Lisa's husband of more than twelve years, Keith Gordon. And the transformation didn't happen overnight either. But to Lisa, it's a very odd feeling to look upon the face of the man she loves and can hardly make out the features she memorized which are now all covered in thick, black ink.

Keith, an admin assistant from Romford, has spent $15,000 worth of tattoos which on the course of five years. He claimed that it helped him with his Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, a demon that has ruled most of his life. But apparently, there is absolutely no signs of regret on this one. He says, “I love the attention. I like being different and I want to show that being different is OK." The 58-year-old fancies himself as currently the 'the coolest looking guy in Essex'. Much to the dismay of his wife, Lisa who is strongly against the decisions of her husband. The 43-year-old woman, who is originally from the Philippines, fantasizes other things. This involves waving a magic wand and off the tattoos go.

Lisa even joked that her life theme song is now Rihanna's song 'Monster' where the lady goes, “I feel like I’m sleeping with a monster in my bed.” Still, Keith managed to urge his wife to get her own ink, some rose and heart designs on her forearm and shoulder blade, which he paid $1,500 for. These days, Lisa waits at night when the lights are out and she can't make out the tattoos in the dark. She shares about how she would touch his face and remember how he looks like before the modifications.

Despite everything, it is still evident that although Lisa have grown more used to her dear husband's new face, she's very vocal about her feelings towards his radical change. This saddens Keith, who pretty much does not give a damn about what anybody would say about his tattoos, but wishes his wife could at least support his lifestyle. But Lisa Gordon is nowhere near running for the hills. The odd and expensive habit of her husband may have drastically changed his outer appearance but it has seemed to have made positive changes in him. He has since then kept his OCD, which he had suffered from for over 40 years, in check. Getting tattooed has resulted into a calmer and happier Keith Gordon and that's enough for Lisa.

Their son, Ricky, truly is his mother's son. "I think it looks a bit ugly. My mum doesn't like it and I kind of agree with her. He looks kind of evil," he shares with Daily Mail. His dad definitely catches some attention, especially in his school, but he's still a regular dad to Ricky. Now Lisa could only look back to their wedding photos back in July 2002 and recall all those years ago when she met this simple guy while cleaning in London's Sloane Square. Then she looks back to the man in front of her now, seeing a stranger's face but not quite. Lisa can still feel the Keith underneath the skin, and that never changed. She might have felt a bit embarrassed when they go out, but as of now Lisa is slowly coming to terms and be the supportive wife Keith needs. See, it all works out.

The couple candidly shares with Mirror UK:

“Sometimes Keith will point to an old guy with grey hair and say, ‘Do you want me to look like him?’

“That’s the only time I think he maybe looks better.”

Lisa shares: “Sometimes I don’t understand myself why I've stayed... when you look at what I married and what he looks like now.

“But we’ve been together 14 years and we do love each other. He only looks like a lunatic, but he’s not.

“He’s attractive to me because he’s my husband.

“He may be a monster but he’s my monster.”

(AWWW!)

Keith is far from done. He is still on his way to finishing his body art, until he's all covered. Then, he plans on trying out for hardman roles on television.
