Tattooing, like any other social or cultural art form, experiences periods where one style is more popular than any other. Once upon a time the tribal tattoo was the must have tattoo, thankfully times have moved on. For better or worse, we think that it may have been Rihanna's "shhh" finger tattoo fueled the rise of the inside finger tattoo. Let's take a quick look on whether or not this is a trend that we embrace, or if it's one we want to go away as quickly as possible.
At the end of the day a tattoo is a tattoo, it serves one primary purpose - to be aesthetically pleasing. People don't go round getting tattooed for it not to look good. Inside finger tattoos fit the bill quite well, they're small, discrete and make an interesting talking piece. If you want a tattoo that's not too out there, but is still appealing, then an inside finger tattoo ticks all the boxes.
So then, inside finger tattoos meet the requirements of looking good, but is that the only pro? Honestly, quite possibly yes. Inside finger tattoos are rather limited, they can't be a huge sprawling tattoo that incorporates a number of styles, in truth they have to be small and simple.
You've just got your new tattoo on the inside of your finger and it looks great, it's nice and bold and easy on the eye. Sadly, it will not stay that way. Your hands are used almost constantly and whether you believe it or not, such use will most certainly fade your awesome new tattoo. The healing process alone will probably cause fading, think about it, how many times do you wash your hands? How many times do you reach into your pocket or bag? Simple little things like this will stop your tattoo from healing in the correct way and cause some fading.
Of course as with any tattoo you also have to think about employment. Yes, work places are opening up to tattoos yet hand tattoos are still a big issue, you can't exactly where gloves all day. Even though a tattoo on the inside of a finger is small it is still a tattoo and still noticeable so don't be surprised if it impedes certain types of employment.
So, inside finger tattoos, good or bad? Well, if you want a small tattoo that you accept may not stay or always look as awesome as the day you got it then by all means get a tattoo on the inside of your finger. They are small, simple and can look quite cool. But you have to accept it may not be there forever!
