11 Freaky Frankenstein Tattoos
In 1818 English author Mary Shelley wrote the novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, little did she know that almost two hundred years later the legacy of her characters would be as popular as ever and her book a literary classic. Most noted of her characters was the creature created by scientist Victor Frankenstein, interestingly the monster had no name, simply referred to as 'creature', 'spectre', the demon', 'wretch' 'fiend', 'devil', 'thing', 'ogre' and 'being'. However in popular culture the monster became known as either Frankenstein's Monster or simply Frankenstein (which is probably the name most people associate with the character).
Shelley's character now holds a place as a Horror legend, each year countless children celebrate Halloween by dressing up as it and dozens of movies have been made recreating the terrifying Frankenstein on the big screen. The image Frankenstein we all know and fear today was first seen in the 1931 film Frankenstein, in which the monster was played by Boris Karloff.
Quite simply Frankenstein's Monster has become a pillar of the contemporary horror genre and a fan favourite!! And as we all know any freakish monster makes a great tattoo. So here's eleven freaky but brilliant Frankenstein tattoos. Enjoy!
