20 Great Works By Nepalese Legend Mohan Gurung
MOHAN GURUNG at Mohan’s Tattoo Inn.
Mohan’s Tattoo Inn has all the sterility control you’d expect from a Western studio. At his studio where he tattoos, teaches tattooing, and sells equipment; probably about 80% of his clients are local and the rest are tourists.
As a child growing up in Nepal, he loved to draw, especially portraits of his family. Through the years, he saw traditional tattoos of low quality, having limited color. As a teenager he began seeing more modern, quality tattoos on tourists visiting Nepal. Rich in local art and culture, with its multiple religions, cultures, and arts, Nepal got him inspired to some extent. But between his love for art and music, Mohan was influenced by European and American artists as well as the traditional tattoo scene in Nepal.
While visiting Korea, he went in to get a tattoo. He was captivated by the tattooing process, and ended up learning from the very same person that he got tattooed by. While being exposed to other tattoo artists, he gained more knowledge, became more polished and refined at his art. He does all sorts of tattoos with realistic touches, but his favorite is portrait art.
