Tattoo Classics: Traditional Rock Of Ages Tattoos

Tattoo classics are surviving trends and fads. Some designs have become historical and still serve as references for modern tattoo lovers and artists. Traditional tattoo fans know well iconic designs such as Battle Royale and Rock of Ages. Rock Of Ages tattoos are coming from the sailor part of tattoo history. They are natical themed tattoos centered on a rock or stone cross with a shipwrecked woman. The background is often composed of many nautical and traditional elements such as a thunderstorm, a shipwreck, etc. Rock of Ages tattoos are first religious pieces with deep meanings. The rock is symbolizing Jesus Christ and the shipwrecked female a sinner wishing to reach his protection. The raging ocean is symbolizing a troubled life and a sinking ship, fate. Variations include a woman or angel catching the drowning sinner to help her climbing the rock. Religious details such as angels, Bible and God's sunrays can be added too. The stone is strong as the faith, no matter how stormy is the ocean. Rock of Ages tattoos are always very dramatic, and fit for big pieces such as backpieces and bodysuits. But the traditional clear lines and visual designs are also allowing smaller yet strong pieces. If you think you will never go wrong with tradition, then check these badass Rock of Ages tattoos.
