The Gnarly Tattoos Of Lady Gaga
Without us even realising it, Lady Gaga has been around the music/art scene for a quite a long time now.
It's been seven years since her song, 'Poker Face' came out and with every new release, she keeps us on our toes. Even years after, the Lady has been nothing short of surprises.
It's no secret either that Lady Gaga wears multiple tattoos proudly. Some of them are dedicated to her 'little monsters'. Others marked some of her milestones. Despite all the hate thrown on Gaga, one simply can't categorize her with other 'whiny bitches who can't sing' in the scene.
The latest tattoos to grace on Mother Monster's skin are the gnarly claw etched on the left side of her upper back and the 'Mother Monster' on her left side stretching toward the armpit. The former was the work of Eric Gonzales in Hamurg, Germany. She posted it on Instagram with '#Monster4Life'.

It earned a lot of negative comments and critics. Pointing out how the hand is disproportionate and the line work poorly done. The queen could care less; it's a tribute for her little monsters, after all.
For obvious reasons, her first tattoo is a G clef on her lower back. Music takes up a very large part of Lady Gaga's life, both in her career and in her personal privacy.
She added to her G clef tattoo with a vine of roses wrapped around her left lower back. It was done by the famous Kat von D, an artist whose work the singer admires.
Lady Gaga explained the reason why she got a peace tattoo on her wrist during her acceptance speech for the LennonOno Grant for Peace, “When I turned 19, I got [a peace sign] tattoo to remind me that if I ever was to gain the attention of the critical mass, even in an exponentially smaller way than John had, that I would commit myself to breeding compassion from my voice."
The triad of daisies on Lady Gaga's back has been speculated as one of her oldest tattoos, going as far back as 2008. It's still unclear why she got them.
She then added a marker-style writing of the words, 'TOKYO LOVE' above her daisies. It was gotten to celebrate her creative team, Haus of Gaga's collaboration with famed Japanese photographer, Araki.
One of the most exposed tattoos Gaga has is probably the vague script on her left bicep. It's actually a passage in German by Rainier Maria Rilke. It translates:
“Confess to yourself in the deepest hour of the night whether you would have to die if you were forbidden to write. Dig deep into your heart, where the answer spreads its roots in your being, and ask yourself solemnly, Must I write?”
The singer takes her music seriously, immortalising some elements from her music. This includes her 'ARTPOP' tattoo and her unicorn tattoo with the words 'BORN THIS WAY'.
Last year, she got a tattoo of a trumpet by Tony Bennett. Satisfied with the sketch, she included the artist's signature in the actual tattoo. Lucky bastard.
As I've said, Lady Gaga is one of the few stars who are genuinely dedicated to her legions of fans. Her little monsters are very dedicated to her, in return, she shows her appreciation and love for them as well. This is why she got a tattoo of 'Little Monsters' on her bicep, beside the tattoo mentioned above. Isn't she wonderful.
In late 2012, Mother Monster got another tattoo dedicated to fans during her tour in Rio de Janeiro. She tweets,
“R†O. Monsters, all over the world you continue to inspire me everyday, your like an endless ocean of possibilities.”
…”the font was derived out of the signatures of three fans, all from different neighborhoods and ages. Represents how music brings us 2gether.“
Like most loving daughters, Lady Gaga got a tattoo for her father of a simple traditional heart with a banner with the word "dad" on it. Her song, 'Speechless' is also dedicated to him.
Speaking of family, Gaga has a younger sister studying in The New School for Design in New York City, who also shares her love for fashion. Her sister, named Natali Germanotta, was nicknamed 'mouse' by the family when they were younger which lead to this uncanny design.
On October 13, 2012, Lady Gaga donned a shaved 'do towards the nape to show off her new tattoo at her fragrance launch. It's a cherub done by Michael Mahoney.
Lady Gaga also revealed an underboob tattoo of an anchor in September 2012, at the Amsterdam Tattoo Museum.
Shout-out to the rest of the little monsters reading. In my opinion, Lady Gaga is one of the best artists in mainstream music. Not the best, but an insanely talented tone. She's what my friends and I listened to in freshman year, sometimes. Paws up, everyone!
