David McComb has put together an awesome book featuring over 400 photographs of tattoos from the last century!
Tattoos at present are more popular than they have ever been and more and more people are covering their bodies in awesome ink, but as we all know tattoos are nothing new! The decoration of bodies has occurred for thousands of years and even modern western tattooing is now over a century old, and to celebrate the both the beginnings and growth of modern tattoos author David McComb has put together an awesome book featuring over 400 photographs of tattoos from the last century!
McComb who has previously worked for contemporary tattoo magazines used the book to explore more vintage periods in modern tattooing as he was 'always keen to reach back in time and chart the evolution of tattoos in the West', and in researching the book had to work through countless old tattoo books and magazines!!
"Over the past century tattoo culture has emerged from the underground and hit the mainstream. From body arts early association with sailors, convicts and side-show acts to the current adoption of tattoo culture amongst celebrities, via the tattoo renaissance of the 1970s, this book reveals the entire history."
