We've said it once, and we'll say it a thousand more times — the placement of a tattoo can often be the most important factor in designing a tattoo. In this gallery you'll find some tattoo artists who got incredibly creative with their designs and created a whole new genre of tattoos — the 3D arm extension piece.
By working the art around the clients existing hand it looks as if the art is coming to life, giving the tattoos an almost unparalleled sense of movement and flow.
SHORYUKEN! In the tattoo above we see Ryu from Street Fighter II delivering his devastating special move, an uppercut that sends fighters reeling across the screen. Anyone who has spent countless hours (and way too much money) in the arcade will instinctively cry out "Shoryuken!" upon seeing this creative piece.
Bruce Lee is the greatest martial artist/actor of all time, and he has been immortalized with many, many tribute tattoos. But I don't know if I've ever seen a more creative one than this work of art here. If you look at it for too long you will believe that you feel the pain of a Bruce Lee punch to the sternum. OUCH.
I yam what I yam! Grab the spinach and get ready to see this man's biceps explode! We're hoping that the person got this tattoo by striking up a deal, where they will gladly pay tomorrow for a tattoo today.
Damn, there are some hardcore Toy Story fans out there. While we appreciate the artistry, don't you think that this tattoo might get a little awkward when things get, uh, intimate?
There are the obvious sacrilegious implications of a tattoo like the one above, but we just can't help but think it would be hilarious in a ton of situations. Jesus on the cross eating a sandwich. Jesus on the cross holding on to the rail on the subway. Jesus on the cross high-fiving people at a Yankee game. The possibilities are endless!
And we'll wrap it up with this phenomenal, anime inspired piece. We hope to see way more 3D arm extension tattoos in the future. Do you have one? Share it with us on the Tattoodo app!
