Niki Norberg pokes fun at some tattoo ‘artists’ who tried hard to copy off his works and failed just as hard in his #CopyCatTuesdays!
Niki Norberg or niki23gtr, as he's known on Instagram, is one of my favourite contemporary artists. It's very evident how he must have trained and worked hard for the skills he has now. His works are almost impeccable. They're simply stunning. He's the master of his game. I love how he brings black and grey tattoos to life. But sadly, he's still not exempted from rip-off ‘artists.’
Niki has this segment he calls #CopyCatTuesdays where he features photo comparisons of his work and a shameless copy, or as I like to call it, an ‘at-least-you-tried’ kind of work beside it. I feel embarrassed for these people who actually have the guts to call themselves ‘artists’ and yet would freely copy off someone else's hard work for easy money. Some kind of artist they are, then.
You may take inspiration from someone, but blatantly copying their original work isn't something anyone should be proud of. No, you didn't ‘nail it,’ bro. Let us nail your nuts off on our dashboard.

Let's start with this particular tattoo on the right specifically designed by Niki for Tattoodo CEO Johan Plenge and the one on the left who obviously tried his best but still failed hard.
Notice how some of these tattoos may pass off as ‘good enough’ to some but none of them actually got them right. That's because even they know that these pieces aren't truly right. They can never get it ‘right’ either because that's like passing off a child you kidnapped as your biological child.
Let's go back to some of the reasons why Tattoodo is here. We're here to provide a portal for unique designs by various talented artists made just for you so you may have a unique design you can call your own. But it's these assholes who rip off of someone else's works that are killing the spirit of tattoo art. Once you get your cool new tattoo online, people will want something just like it and will look for some douche-y tattoo artist who will do the job for a quick buck. That's the sad story.
