Tattoo Artists You Really Should Get To Know: David Côté
Get ready for some serious acid trip with David Côté's insanely trippy brand of tattoos!
David Côté is an artist from Montreal, Canada who has a flair of creating eccentric tattoos in the most vivid mix of dark and bright colors. The boredom from college and hanging out with the right people was what got him into tattooing. David started out with traditional tattoos but soon developed his sweet style.
I love how eclectic and vivid his works are. They make you think of things that don't exist but makes you wish they did. They personally remind me of a really far-out sort of tripping which eventually lulls you into a some good night sleep and you wake up the next morning knowing everything was all in your head and yet they still felt so real.

I'd love to get tattooed by David toasted because I dream best on nugs, man.
He describes his work as ‘psychedelic work inspired by old and new graphic design.’
One thing you must know about David Cote is that he gets some of his inspirations for his works from his nightly conquests. And it's not what you're thinking. He revealed in an AMA thread on Reddit that he's actually quite the lucid dreamer, which is why he keeps a sketchbook beside his bed to draw or write down his freshest visions. That explains the very cosmic feel of most of his tattoos.
“I get to meet extraordinary people. It's a huge dedication to carry someone's art on you forever. I am also very grateful to be able to travel and meet others with whom I share a similar passion and who constantly influence and help define my craft,” —David on the best part about being a tattoo artist
Aside from tattooing, David also plays music. He also has a bunch of projects he's currently working on at the moment but they'll be left kept as a secret for now.
We ask him the question many aspiring tattoo artists would like to ask skilled tattoo artists like himself—the big advice:
Work hard. Motivation, dedication, and humbleness are the most important words you should keep in mind. Draw until your hands are sore (haha). However, in all honesty, I believe that the best inspiration comes from outside of the tattoo world. —Davide Côté to Tattoodo
So, what are David's plans for the future? Making history to be the first man to tattoo on the space, maybe? “I have no idea, the book is yet to be written. I plan on traveling the whole world but free time is missing on my side,” he says.
Many of his tattoos sure do reflect his thirst for the feel of stepping on new land.
