Meet the man behind the charming Disney princesses pin-up portraits, the self-proclaimed ‘Weapon of Mass Creation,’ Tim Shumate.
For starters, Tim Shumate is a 29-year-old illustrator from Chicago. Armed with a degree in Editiorial Illustration from American Academy of Art and Graphic Design from Illinois Institute of Art, he spends most of his time creating all sorts of illustrations; from fan art types of drawings to creative pieces such as his “100 Monsters” project.
Tim is mostly known for his pin-up, tattoo style illustrations of Disney princesses.
Aside from Disney princesses, Tim also likes drawing different Disney characters and popular characters from different franchises.
The thing with Tim's works is they all look as if they're ready to be on skin. They're ready-made tattoo flash designs, so to speak!
“Well, Sailor Jerry has always been in my top five favorite artists. He keeps things really simple and bold, which is something I can’t do no matter how hard I try. He is definitely what started my obsession with tattoos,” Tim explains in an interview.
It's no surprise that for several years, Tim's illustrations have been chosen as tattoo designs by more than a hundred people who might have stumbled upon Tim's works
When his illustrations are not being adapted into tattoo designs, they're mostly heading straight to shirts and many other types merchandise.
Tim enjoys working with both traditional and digital media.
