21 Tattooed Characters To Cosplay This Halloween
Let's celebrate Halloween the Tattoodo way by dressing up as some of the most iconic tattooed characters on TV, video games, and books!
Who says Halloween is reserved for the little ones? I'm pretty sure there are just as much well-functioning adults that are just as excited for Halloween as kids at least fifteen years younger. Replace the sweets and the fruit punch with piña coladas or margaritas and we're good!
Sure, you can dress up as the standard Marvel superhero or Disney princess but if you really want a challenge, go as a tattooed character from your favourite TV show, film, book, or video game. Maybe we'll see you as one of these tattooed characters this year!
1. Lisbeth Salander (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo)
Hands down, Lisbeth Salander is one of the most badass tattooed women character you can dress up as this Halloween. Like many, I do agree that nothing compares to the book version of her but the film versions really brought out the image of how the actual badass that was Lisbeth Salander really is. And let's not forget—of course—the, uh, dragon tattoo.
2. Scottie P. (We're the Millers)
Recent from Stories
Even the people who have never even heard of this movie are very familiar with Scottie P.'s “No Ragrets” tattoo. Some even mistook it for the real thing.
Wear this if you want to go for something cheap but easy to recognize. And if they don't, simply say “Not. Even. One. Letter.”
3. Rose (American Ultra)
Not the most famous tattooed character out there but if you've watched American Ultra, you'll know why I picked Rose. Forget Kristen Stewart was in that movie and you're good.
4. Scar (Fullmetal Alchemist)
Animé and manga fans will recognize this Ishvalian strongman as the villain-turned-hero in Fullmetal Alchemist. He's perhaps the most heavily-tattooed character in the show and one of the strongest at that. His tattoo sleeves also contain some really interesting symbols that includes both alchemic symbols, script, and geometric styles.
5. Jane Doe (Blindspot)
Being one of the fastest-growing ratings on TV this fall, it's not impossible that Blindspot will get to the top of prime time. And if this keeps up, Jane has enough tattoos that will last through several seasons anyway. Tricky one to dress up as, but every bit worth it when done right.
6. Tate (American Horror Story s1)
American Horror Story ran into legal trouble with Zombie Boy for featuring his tattoo design on the episode where Tate goes into a killing spree in school. So yeah, this one goes out to you, Zombie Boy.
7. The Joker (Suicide Squad)
Let's get real. This film won't even be in theaters until August 2016 but there has been so much hype already. What can we say? A tattooed Joker on the big screen just might be what we need next. And despite fans everywhere shaking their heads over Leto playing the Joker, we really just have to wait 'til next year and see if Jared indeed deservingly follows up Heath Ledger's iconic, anarchist Joker.
8. Harley Quinn (Suicide Squad)
Can't forget about the artist responsible for The Joker's cool new tattoos, now can we? For those who can't wait to get the “Harley's Tattoo Parler” experience, put on your ripped stockings and some hair dye to get that Daddy's Lil Monster going on.
9. Khal Drogo (Game of Thrones S1)
Okay. They're not exactly tattoos. But I think we just have to let this pass because Game of Thrones really killed it this year. Become both Daenerys's sun and stars and a Dothraki overlord by nailing those intense smokey eyes and the impeccable raven hair.
10. Sirius Black (Harry Potter films)
Harry Potter purists argue that it was never directly stated that Sirius actually got a tattoo while locked up in Azkaban. But get a grip, mates. It's prison. A wizard prison at that. The odds are Sirius probably got out of the wizard prison tatted and rough
11. Agent 47 (Hitman)
I haven't played the game, but I did watch the intense action movie adaptation. I really can't quite forget about that barcode tattoo and Agent 47's past—it's haunting. Nevertheless, a good one to dress up as.
12. Stuart Price (Hangover 2)
Be careful with this one, though. You don't want to get sued by Tyson's tattoo artist too.
13. The Homonculi (Fullmetal Alchemist)
Tattoos play a big part on the manga/animé Fullmetal Alchemist. They're often used in performing alchemy itself, whether to create or destroy. One of the most recognizable tattoos in the series is the Homonculi mark. There are many other tattooed characters in FMA to choose from, it has a surprisingly wide range of choices.

14. Most Fairy Tail Characters
Most of the characters in this animé are tattooed because once you've joined a ‘guild’ (which is a very crucial part of the show), you're required to wear their magic mark on a part of your body.
15. Revy (Black Lagoon)
16. Nami (One Piece)
17. Jin Nakazama (Tekken series)
I'm biased on this one. I always play Jin on Tekken, even before the new instalments came out. I won't leave the console until I get his Devil Jin on. (Oh, and did I mention that Jin Nakazama is freaking hot?)
18. Dante (Devil May Cry series)
If you haven't noticed, Dante got a new look for the fifth instalment of the Devil May Cry series. He kept the Ash Stymest-like, bad boy attitude but that's about it. It's like we're seeing a new Dante on DMC5.
Aside from the new hairstyle and the new cape, we also got to see a glowing mark on Dante's back many times in the game during a hangover and a night out with a certain girl.
19. Maya (Borderlands)
Kind of reminds you of Disney's Atlantis, doesn't it?
20. Faith (Mirror's Edge)
I haven't played this game yet, but my mates are telling me that she should totally be on the list. Aside from her tattoos, I heard that she possesses some insane skill or something.
21. Darth Maul (Star Wars: The Phantom Menace)
Last but surely not the least, we have a Sith lord over here. You have my utter respect if you actually managed to pull this off.
