ONEQ is a self-taught illustrator hailing from Japan. She grew up in the city of Kumamoto in the southeast island of Kyushu. She is now residing in the bustling city of Tokyo to pursue her career as an artist. Most of ONEQ's illustrations feature tattoo-inspired elements like pin-up girls and irezumi.

One remarkable thing about ONEQ is as far as her artist career goes, she's all self-taught. She shares with Supersonic Art that she never went to art school but it's something she's thankful for as it enabled her to bend rules and navigate on her own.
Most of her pin-up girls are themselves branded with beautiful irezumi-inspired new school tattoos on peachy skin tones.

She recalls in an interview her earliest memories of art and creating them which includes summers in her hometown she and her friends spend drawing, reading manga with her brother, and an old lady in the neighborhood with an impressive art collection she used to admire so much.
The Japanese artist goes through quite a tedious process in creating her works but enjoying what she does, it's nothing to her when she sees the fruits of her labor.
ONEQ didn't intend to make a career out of being an artist. But she has evernd we believe that ONEQ's works has every right to be on people's skin.
I think pictures never need translation. Even if the language is not understood, the picture can exceed time and speech and any one can enjoy it. Such pleasant things cannot be stopped. — ONEQ to Supersonic Art
