Michael Devereau said if he raised over £500 for charity he would get a 'Balls To Cancer' tattoo, He raised the money and got the ink!!
36 year-old Michael Devereau, from Belfast, decided to try and raise some money and awareness for Testicular Cancer, but instead of doing the usual sponsored run or head shaving he decided to get some ink! Setting himself a goal of £500 Michael decided that if he matched the goal he would get the 'Balls To Cancer' logo tattooed on his right forearm.
"Everyone's affected by cancer at some stage, family or otherwise. My own dad, Arthur, had a scare. It just made me think that about male cancers - maybe they don't get the publicity as much. I just want to do it to raise awareness. I can't run a marathon and I don't have enough hair to shave it! I just thought I'd try to do something unusual."
His local tattoo studio Black Wolf Tattoo offered to do the tattoo for free and when he passed his target Michael took up their offer and followed through on his promise and now is the proud owner of a 'Balls To Cancer' tattoo!!
"It's been brilliant people can't believe I've gone through with it"
Last year Argentinian footballer Jonas Gutierrez got his own Testicular Cancer tattoo after overcoming the cancer and returning to the sport!!
