Supporting Her Deaf Daughter: Tattooed Mom Gets A Hearing Aid Tattoo
One more reason why tattooed moms are the coolest.
Here's another nominee for tattooed mom of the year award! Since we've heard of that story about the wonder dad who got a cochlear implant tattooed on him to match his daughter's, parents whose kids feel insecure about theirs have followed suit in supporting their kids.
Stacey Barnard is a 26-year-old single mom from Victoria, Australia. Her 7-year-old daughter, Georgia was first fitted for a hearing aid at 13 weeks and has been wearing hearing aids ever since. Unfortunately, the young girl grew increasingly uncomfortable with having them on. Things didn't get better when she started school.
“I had to deal with the principal causing issues and discriminating—the day before Georgia was to start they called me to say she wouldn't be allowed on the premises anymore as her hearing impairment was a safety issue for students and teachers,” Barnard tells Daily Mail Australia.
Stacey finally decided to get herself a hearing aid tattoo to show her support for Georgia when the single mother came home one day to find the 7-year-old's hearing aid scattered on the floor with Georgia crying in bed. “I wouldn't care if it was permanent, I would always love it, so that night I contacted my tattooist and she loved the idea,” she says.

Stacey wanted to surprise her daughter with the tattoo so she decided to do it when she picks up Georgia from school. “I picked Georgia up from school and she had no idea what I had done...I knelt down beside her, turned my head and she was speechless and wrapped her arms around me,” tells Stacey to Daily Mail Australia.
“Before becoming a mother I remember telling myself I will have a daughter and we will have a truly magical bond,” Stacey writes in an Instagram post. “Little did I know, I would get my little princess and a bond would be formed.”
“She is the reason I hold on for hope to a better future, she is the reason my world still spins, she makes sure my days are filled with love and my nights shine bright. I love you so much little miss, so much that words will never describe the amount of love I have for you. I hope one day I can be half as strong as you are.”
