The Brutally Beautiful Blackwork Of Mxm
MxM brings us his unique brand of blackwork, packed with intricacy, arcane alchemy-inspired symbolisms.
If the leg piece above did not impress you we honestly don't know what will. The pair of legs above happens to be, in our opinion, one of the finest works by blackwork tattooist, MxM or Maxime Büchi.
Swiss born Maxime has been tattooing since 2008. He apprenticed at the Leu Family’s Family Iron, in Lausanne. He worked a few years at East River Tattoo in Brooklyn before opening his own shop, Sang Bleu over a year ago.
He now splits his time between tattooing in London and LA at Sang Bleu Tattoo.
Recent from Tattoo Artists
In addition to being a tattoo artist, Maxime also dabbles in a lot of other things such as publications and clothing design, earning him the reputation of being a talented jack-of-all-trades kind of guy.
His works are known for their intricacy, blend of dotwork and esoteric-inspired symbols, and his skilful eye for details.
This is how nipple tattoos are done.
When asked to describe his style, he insists, “I don’t like pigeonholing myself. I would say that I’m looking for a new classicism. Something that is not just experimental for the sake of experimenting; something that is not just fancy and trendy.”
Be it a leg sleeve or an arm sleeve, Maxime's work surely leaves his clients thirst for ink satiated:
When asked about how he first felt getting a tattoo he simply replied with a word many of us can relate with all too well: High.
