Traditional Japanese tattoos have their own version of the Snake lady, and she is called "Kiyohime".
Tattoo by Johan Svahn
According to Japanese folklore, Kiyohime was the daughter (in some versions, a widow) of Shoji, the village landlord on the Hidaka riverbank. Kiyo's family were wealthy enough to accommodate the lodging of traveling priests passing by on their way to a shrine famous for ascetic practices.

One day, a handsome priest named Anchin visited & fell in love with the beautiful Kiyohime. After some time, he overcame his passions & refrained from seeing her again. This got Kiyohime furious & pursued her ex-lover in rage, turning into a large monstrous serpent as she goes. Running away, Anchin reached a temple called "Dojo-ji" & hid under the temple bell with the help of the priests. Unfortunately, Kiyohime smelled him hiding inside & coiled herself around the bell & banged it loudly til it beltched into a large fire that melted the bell & killed Anchin. And that's how the story ended. :-O
