15 Gorgeous Scarifications You Might Even Consider Getting

You might give scarification a second thought once you see these gorgeous pieces painstakingly and meticulously carved onto skin!

We've said it before, we're saying it again: Scarification isn't for the faint-hearted. It not only looks a shit ton painful but it's actually that painful. What can you expect from having your skin peeled off? The healing period may also be such a motherfucker. I've known people who looked as if they got mauled by a bear the first day they showed up at work with a fresh scarification. Even I used to gag at the thought of getting it done.

But once I got to know more about the procedure and the satisfying release some people get from it, it's no longer difficult to see why people choose to go through it at all. It's yet another beautiful way to modify your body. And once you see the rest of them, you might want to change your mind about this.

If you're way too terrified to go all the way, why not star with small pieces like this one? It's not much but it's a first step!

Let's get carving! Just not into slicing and a whole lot of bloodshed? The art of body branding is worth a look, too.
