Her first tattoo was a small music note on the side of her right wrist. She has said in an interview for E! Online, “I was named after a singer (Selena Quintanilla-Pérez) and music obviously is a big influence for me,” perhaps also her strong connection to music encouraged her.

Selena Gomez’s second tattoo was on the back of her neck and portrayed a Roman Numeral “LXXVI” indicating the number 76. The neck tattoo is assumed to be a tribute to her mother who is born in 1976.

The young artist also has a tattoo on both of her hips. The newest is the sacred Om symbol on her left hip originating from Hinduism, and representing clearing the mind of thoughts and distractions. The older hip tattoo is on the right side and is another arabic script meaning “God Who Strengthens Me”. The sentence is inspired by The Philippians 4:13 verse of the Bible.
