Digimatism: The Calculated Minimalism Of Stanislaw Wilczynski

Russian tattoo artist Stanislaw Wilczynski brings us his brand of “digimatism” style, negative space, minimalist tattoos.

I stumbled upon his tattoos a while ago when I was looking through artists for another article. The way the negative spaces seem to drift away from each other was what first drew me to his works. That was how I saw it. But seeing past the way the art affected me personally, I saw how Wilczynski is all about negative spaces and calculation.

His lines are impeccable. Wilczynski is your go-to guy if you want straight lines—all clean and simple.

But if you insist on subtlety, he’ll give you sweet subtlety.

But that doesn’t mean he’s all about standard minimalist blackwork. He also does portraits in his distinct style.

This semi-abstract digimatist heart tattoo is my personal favourite from Wilczynski’s works. There’s something cold, calculated, and melancholy about it, as if to depict a heart slowly falling into dilapidation.
