Footballer James McClean got a new tattoo and caused quite much gossip around it, but he silenced his tattoo critics once and for all!
The midfielder of West Bromwich Albion and Republic of Ireland, James McClean, is no stranger to tattoos. The guy's pretty inked up with two full sleeves and substantial tattoos on his legs. His latest tattoo, however, caused quite a buzz and had a large amount of criticism coming towards his new ink.
McClean's latest tattoo is a pocket watch dedicated to his son, with his name, date of birth and time of birth shown in the finished design.
At first glance the tattoo looks flawless but when you look at it closer, the watch face shows the number 4 written as 'IIII' that is actually opposed to the usual Roman Numeral 'IV'. Of course people were quick to point this out but McClean responded equally fast and proved the critics wrong!
The Republic of Ireland international also offered a dedicated tweet to the critics of his latest ink; 'For the "geniuses" trying to be clever, on pocket watches its IIII & not IV, hate being right #dummies #awkward
Although the correct Roman Numeral for 4 is 'IV' on clocks and pocket watches, the number is most commonly written as 'IIII' as shown in his tattoo. Well played McClean!
