Race driver Tony Kanaan recently got a new tattoo to honor the most important things in his life, from racing to his family!
Antoine Rizkallah Kanaan Filho aka Tony Kanaan is the Brazilian born race driver and winner of the 2013 Indianapolis 500 and he recently got a new tattoo dedicated to the things he holds closest to his heart.
Kanaan already has a number of different tattoos but his latest design features Borg-Warner Trophy (which goes to the 500 winner), his car number in that race (11), his wedding date, a speedometer, the handprints and footprints of his children, and background of bricks from the Brickyard. All of which Kanann described as “the most important things in my lifetime until today.”
The tattoo took a total of 12 hours to complete and was done by world renowned Swedish tattoo artist Niki Norberg. Taking two six-hour sessions the tattoo was completed in December while both artist and driver were in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
It took 12 hours, two sessions of six hours each. We were planning only one session, but he wanted to make the details really nice, so we did two...“Like with every tattoo, it hurt, but when you want to do something you’ve got to put up with the pain"
With the 2016 Verizon IndyCar season beginning on March 13th Kanaan got his tattoo just in time, hopefully with his most important things etched into his skin he will have even more motivation to bring home those trophies!
