Magick, Folklore & The Occult: The Dark Illustrations of Glyn Smyth
Riddled with mystic symbolism and haunting imagery, the artwork of Glyn Smyth is truly mesmerizing.
Glyn Smyth is a self-taught artist hailing from Belfast, Ireland whose work is rooted in magick, folklore and myths. Working mainly in printmaking, illustration and design, Smyth's dark aesthetic is equally as intriguing via one medium as the next.
Smyth's work is basically just a giant collection of all things mysterious. Often portraying women and female power, occult symbolism, Tarot-inspired layouts and a dark palette- there really isn't anything not to love about it. Super dark and super badass.
Considering the eerie, mystical (see also: fucking badass) nature of his work, it should come as no surprise that Smyth has collaborated with an array of underground metal bands to create album art to match their heavy, sinister sound.
In addition to his impressive collaborations and endless personal work, Smyth also has his own brand- Stag & Serpent . There, you can purchase prints and other products, keep updated on news, and read his journal where he occasionally shares exclusive videos on his artistic process.
