Nothing But Light: Tattooed People Pose Nude All For Body Love
Photographer Anastasia Kuba gets people of all sizes and ages to pose for her project promoting body love—with many of them tattooed.
We all have our own stories; our own scars, struggles, and insecurities—most of them centered around our body image. We feel lost, used, broken, and let down by ourselves and we start hating the person we see on the opposite side of the mirror. For some of us, tattoos help in the healing process while some need more than ink to learn to love and accept the body they were born into.
Photographer and artist Anastasia Kuba started the project Nothing But Light with this issue as its core. She herself struggled with her body image, having worked as a topless dancer and felt lost for many years in her own body. For Nothing But Light, volunteers pose for Kuba and share a piece of their personal stories to help them make peace with their bodies.
“The truth is, feeling that we aren’t enough has nothing to do with our looks. It’s the result of trauma we’ve gone through that inflicted shame, and forced us to hide from others to protect ourselves from hurt,” said Kuba.
“I am amazed by the community this project has created,” Kuba told Buzzfeed. “A lot of people have helped me; I’ve been funded by the community, and my subjects are volunteers. The people I’ve photographed have been very supportive towards each other.”

“At this point in my life I can honestly say my body is the only thing that’s mine,” says Mason, a transman.
