Tattoo World Record Holder Gaby Peralta Falls During Suspension Show

Gaby Peralta suffered a fall this weekend during her suspension show at the Tattoo Music Fest in Bogota Colombia

Victor and Gaby Peralta from Argentina are the Guinness World Record holders as the most tattooed couple in the world and were invited guests to Bogota, Colombia's second edition of the Tattoo Music Fest. The two day event was packed full of local band talent, freakshows and of course a whole lot of tattooing and seeing as though Bogota has been my home for the last 10 years... I had to be there.

As I saw Gaby Peralta being hooked on the cables and raised high above the stage I cringed and got goosebumps at the same time. Suspension isn't my cup of tea but it is undeniably fascinating to watch. I began to take pictures of her swinging impossibly on hooks attached to her back which was proving difficult to get a good one because of the movement. I looked away for just a moment and BOOM! Gaby had fallen 3 meters face down onto the stage. Her husband and medics were immediately on the scene and as she was carried out on a stretcher she managed to raise an arm and give the devil horns to a concerned crowd who cheered as she was carried off stage. What a trooper!

Victor and Gaby arrived in Bogota mid last week and made several appearances at tattooshops across the city photo from Broken Tattoo #GabyPeralta #TattooMusicFest #Bogota #suspension #accident #GuinnessWorldRecord #tattooedcouple

Gaby was taken to a hospital and found to have suffered a fractured arm and elbow. She will need surgery this coming Wednesday to patch up the elbow...ouch! Even though all safety measures were in place for the suspension show at the Tattoo Music Fest and the equipment was of a high standard...any suspension act may carry a risk of accident. Perhaps that's part of the adrenaline factor? Aside from the broken bones, Gaby came out OK and fortunately avoided some serious injuries. I hope she recovers real soon and it hasn't put her off what she loves doing. Get well soon Gaby!
