I remember it like it was yesterday- the day I came home to my darling mother with my first tattoo that was not only big, but very visible...
...It didn't matter that it was HER NAME, mind you... it mattered that it was large, black, and right smack-dab on the inside of my arm for the world to see. She calmed down after the initial shock of it all, and now she even takes pride in the fact that her baby girl loves her enough to wear her name on her body forever- but man, it was not pretty at first. And let me tell you, there is NOTHING worse than knowing your mama is disappointed in you. Side note, though: A few years later, my mom got her first tattoo- a matching one with me. So needless to say- she came around, and yours probably will too.
The fact is, though- we all want to impress our dear, sweet mothers. However, we are also adults who have the right to make our own decisions- and sometimes those decisions result in tattoos that our amazing mom may not be that stoked on. But, we're here to help you with that.
Sure, we can't promise 100% satisfaction- However, it's safe to say that a majority of moms' opinions regarding their childrens' body art (aside from a small population of those really, really badass mamas out there who are down to join in on the fun) typically lean towards the "less is more" mentality. So yeah, in that case- we have some advice for you.
Here are 12 pretty, subtle, and most of all- small tattoos that are sure to get the mom seal of approval, with minimal tears and possibly no screaming. With a tattoo this tiny and gorgeous, who could really get THAT mad about it, right?
