Rodrigo Tas specializes in watercolor tattoos inspired by graphic design. His compositions are both beautiful and though provoking. They drift in and out of abstraction in ways that make them more expressive than most pieces done in the style. His rather experimental approach to tattooing has a poetic mystique to it, communicating beautiful ideas in a surprising fashion.
Tas has a background in graphic design, and his experience working in this field prior to becoming a tattooist translates into his more recent profession. You can see this element of his body art in his expressive linework and the other unconventional techniques, like how he creates the appearance of splattered ink in several of the pieces here.
Rodrigo tends to be adventurous in his subject matter. Many of his pieces have a surreal quality to them, featuring imagery such as staircases that lead into pure abstraction, disappearing into bursts of cloudy color. He doesn't simply make dainty tattoos of a flowers, he plants them in unexpected places, like inside lightbulbs. The way that fuses incongruent imagery evokes meaning. By seating a guitar in a lady head, for instance, he illustrates what it's like to constantly have music on one's mind.
