13 Dark Semi-Abstract Black and Red Tattoos by Łukasz Sokołowski
Polish tattoo artist Łukasz Sokołowski will haunt you with his grim semi-abstract works, illustrated in black and red.
While Łukasz simply describes his tattoos as ‘monotype*,’ I can conjure up a series of words that I can only hope will describe his dark, animated works.
Łukasz Sokołowski is an art student who became a tattooer in a round-about way that was based on chance - in a way, tattooing 'chose' him! He experimented with tattooing in his younger days but left it all behind for almost a decade when he entered university. If it wasn't for a girlfriend who convinced him to give it one more try, he wouldn't have been making unique prints on people's skin.
(*Monotype is a form of printmaking created by drawing or painting on a smooth, non-absorbent surface.)
Łukasz's works are mostly made up of semi-abstract images and primitivist designs, all mashed up together with delicious contrasts of colors. His subjects are often dark and mysterious, designed with haunting images and dark elements that you only thought you'd see in your nightmares. While he uses a wide range of complementing palettes, Łukasz mostly works in black and red, with hints of orange and white for highlights.
