Balor has rapidly become one of the most recognizable performers in the wrestling world.
Fergal Devitt, better known by his ring name Finn Balor, is an Irish professional wrestler currently signed to the WWE. Having spent the last two years in WWE's developmental program NXT, where he held the NXT title for a record 292 days, Balor is eagerly awaited to make his main roster debut in the upcoming weeks.
Prior to signing for the WWE Balor spent over a decade travelling the world and wrestling for a number of prestigious companies, the most notable being New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he debuted his now iconic war paint.
When asked about his body art at a press event Balor explained its origin.
“It goes back to when I was in Japan, and I was looking for something new to do outside the box. I toyed with the idea of wearing a full bodysuit or a mask. It was originally meant to be a once-off for the Tokyo Dome. It got a great reaction, and one show led to another, and it became a whole big thing."
Perhaps one of the coolest gimmicks in wrestling at the minute Balor's war paint has become much more than just body art and is as much apart of Balor's persona as his incredible in ring talents. Nicknamed the 'Demon' when wearing his paint Balor pays great attention to detail and isn't afraid to mix up his war paint look. From designs inspired by myths and legends to comic book heroes Balor's paint has seen it all and we're bringing you a close look at some of the best paint-jobs he's had!
