As if we didn't already think Marc Jacobs was the coolest person in the world- this little tidbit of information officially secures his throne.
Known for his quirky, ever-growing collection of tattoos (well, among other things... like being one of the most successful fashion moguls in the universe, but, whatever) his body art never ceases to entertain us. Drawing inspiration from old Hollywood (he has an Elizabeth Taylor tattoo) to Spongebob- Jacobs' collection covers a pretty wide spectrum of things near and dear to his heart.
That includes his couch.
Yes. He has his couch tattooed on his stomach.
And there it is. The actual piece of furniture that inspired Jacobs' stomach tattoo. Sure, the real-life couch and the tattoo-couch have slightly different seats (one has three and one has two)- but, Jacobs' himself has confirmed the relationship between the two. He 100% got the tattoo to honor how much he loves his home seating.
Jacobs' and his husband Lorenzo Martone's stunning Greenwich Village home was featured in Architectural Digest- where this surprising fact was officially revealed.
"When Jacobs purchased the newly constructed home in 2009 for himself and his then-fiancé, Lorenzo Martone, it was just raw space, and the couple enlisted interior designer Thad Hayes to oversee its build-out and decoration. Hayes recalls a telling moment early in the process, when he and Jacobs were discussing upholstery options. 'We were looking at a classic boxy Jean-Michel Frank sofa and Marc said, offhandedly, ‘Of course I love it—it’s tattooed on my torso.’ Then he lifted up his shirt and showed me the couch'"
So there you have it. Another reason to fall in love with the man, the myth, the legend- Marc Jacobs. We can't wait to see what kind of piece he gets next... because let's face it: We can't even begin to imagine.
