Meet Pierre, Sebastian, and Johan - the masterminds behind the 3D tattoo machine. Tattoodo caught up with the guys and heard about their awesome experiences getting tattooed by the machine. Johan's first tattoo ever was one done by the machine, pictured below. So brave!
As we wrote about the 3D Printing Tattoo Machine in our recent article, the machine is meant to expand tattooing possibilities for artists. The tattoo below, done on Pierre's leg, is an example of the amazing capability of the machine. As he explained to us, “You can see the transgression of color as it goes, and a perfect circle. That would be hard to do by hand and you have to mix inks.” According to the guys from Appropriate Audiences, this means that the machine can be used as an aid to artists and help tattoo designs that would be difficult for a human to execute. Have a look!
The spiral below was actually the first tattoo done by a robotic arm, co-designed by the guys, which you can read more about here.
From left to right, Pierre, Sebastian, and Johan, three of the masterminds behind the machine.
So what's up next for the guys and their 3D tattoo machine? As Pierre explained to us, they admire the work of artists such as Lyle Tuttle and trends such as Ignorant Style, and want to work with different artists to expand tattooing possibilities.
With the exciting combination of science and art, who knows what new trends and styles could arise with the help of this incredible machine!
Have a look at this 'behind the scenes' video we took of the guys displaying their machine at Trailerpark Festival!
