When Xavier Holly learned in mid-August he would have to wear a back brace to combat his scoliosis longer than he expected, he was devastated. School was right around the corner, and he had hoped to be rid of the apparatus by then. The bad news affected his confidence and he knew he would be embarrassed if he had to wear his boring white back brace another day. This was not the intro to his new classroom homies that he wanted.
His mother took to the Internet to see if she could find a way that he could wear the brace without feeling like he'd get picked on. She posted a Facebook status asking for a place that might be able to airbrush the brace. That's where Angel Ruiza from Anarchy Tattoo & Art Co. in Orlando stepped in.
Ruiza caught wind of Xavier's situation and offered to airbrush the brace for free. He got in contact with Xavier's mother, asked what his interests were, and got to work on the custom design. The result: an awesome shark-themed brace that Xavier can proudly wear around school without fear.
"He was shocked and instantly wanted to wear it to school to show all his friends," Xavier's mom said.
As for Ruiza, he has been doing charitable tattoo work for a while. Before designing this awesome shark brace, Ruiza did free pulse-themed tattoos in honor of those who were lost at the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando.
