Minimalism has been on the rise in almost every aspect of design in the past few decades. Whether it be architecture, interior design, or art, it seems that less really is more. Melina Wendlandt, an artist whose work is the epitome of minimalism, is at the forefront of the movement.
With clean, precise lines, and impeccable attention to detail, the end result is a dreamy, abstract tattoo that’s sure to turn heads. Wendlandt's tattoos are devoid of color and any shading that exists is very minimal, but don't be mistaken into thinking that her work is "simple." Strong lines, careful stippling, and an understanding of how to use negative space give her work a look not likely to be replicated.
The most striking thing about Wendlandt's work is the symmetry in her pieces. One cannot overstate how difficult it is to create a perfectly symmetrical design on a human body, Wendlandt truly is in a league of her own.
Wendlandt can be found working out of the studio she founded, Vaders Dye, in Hamburg, Germany. If you can't make your way to Hamburg be sure to keep up with Wendlandt's modern, minimalistic designs by visiting her Instagram.
