Shane O'Neill's Black and Grey Portraits

Shane O'Neill's Black and Grey Portraits

The Ink Master vet shows off why he's such a coveted tattoo artist.

The show Ink Master has brought the tattooing community into the mainstream spotlight and its eight season run has done a lot for the visibility of some tattoo artists. It has helped make and shape careers, and one beneficiary of the show is Shane O'Neill.

O'Neill was the winner of the inaugural season of Ink Master and his unrivaled skills in the art of tattooing helped catapult him into the public consciousness. His work primarily focuses on portraits and realism, and once you have a gander over his work, you'll understand why his talents have been lauded all over the world.

O'Neill is currently based out of Middleton, Delaware at Infamous Tattoo. Not only was he the first winner on Ink Master, he also sat on the jury for the Chaudesaigues Award, one of the most prestigious prizes in the tattooing world. His work has also been featured in countless tattoo magazines, and his reputation has led him to being one of the most in-demand artists on the East Coast.

This is all coming from an artist who wasn't formally trained. He went to University of Arts in Philadelphia, and worked as an illustrator for some time before making the leap to tattooing under the guidance of his brother. Since his start, he estimates that he's done well over 10,000 tattoos, and he just keeps going.
