Shell Valentine's Picture Perfect Tributes to Disney

Shell Valentine's Picture Perfect Tributes to Disney

Cute and colorful, these are just about as close as you can get to having a real Disney animator tattoo you

Disney will forever hold the hearts of children and grown ups alike, and artist Shell Valentine knows this better than anyone. Disney was there for your parents, it was there for you, and it will likely be there for your children and grandchildren. There has yet to be a Disney movie that hasn’t hit a homerun or at least scored a run. Hell, even Fantasia, a movie that was more or less intended for extremely inebriated adults, was a literal symphony of perfection. We understand that lingering ache when the credits of an animated Disney film start rolling, that longing for the perfection that is Wonderland, the Hundred Acre Wood, and Neverland, which is why we’re here to stave off your Disney depression with a few of Shell Valentine’s adorably colorful Magic Kingdom inspired tattoos.

There was a time in the late '80s to early '90s when Disney underwent a sort of renaissance. It was during this time that cult classics like Mulan, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast were released. Valentine’s work recalls a time of the not-so-distant Disney past when Marie from the Aristocats, the loveable, albeit incredibly weird, alien Stitch, and Alice took center stage. Through solid outlines and incredibly powerful color, Valentine creates a pocket-sized memento of our favorite childhood heroes, and when we say that she perfectly recreates iconic Disney scenes, we mean it. A butterfly resting atop Bambi’s nose, Mulan’s infamous change (both physically and mentally) from a traditional Chinese woman into a strong soldier, and the classic row boat scene in the Little Mermaid — the kiss that almost was — are all there in her portfolio, just as we remember them.

If you’re looking for a trip down memory lane, or a peek into the famed “Disney Vault” take a peek at some of Valentine’s work. It’s just about as close as you can get to having an actual Disney animator tattoo you.
