Remember just a few years ago, all the way back to 2015? It was a different time. Barack Obama was still the President, you were two years younger, Drake had released "Hotline Bling" to much fanfare. It seems like ages ago.
You might also remember that a photo surfaced of Ben Affleck with a giant back piece. It seemed completely out of character for the actor since he's arguably the most vanilla man in the world, but when the photo was released, it sent the gossip magazines into a frenzy. They were all speculating about the meaning behind it, what it actually was, etc.
Some "news agencies" even posited the tattoo was of a phoenix rising from the ashes, which was meant to symbolize Ben rising from the ashes of his recent divorce from Jennifer Garner. Then Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Lopez all shit on Affleck for having such a silly tattoo.
Well, turns out the tattoo was fake. According to Affleck, the tattoo was for a movie, even though the tattoo doesn't appear in any of his recent works. What the hell is going on here? Affleck told Extra, "I actually do have a number of tattoos, but I try to have them in places where you don’t have to do a lot of cover up."
This is a very muddy story. Either Ben is lying about it being for a movie, and he actually has the tattoo, or Ben lied about actually having the tattoo, or Ben is telling the truth, even though the tattoo doesn't appear in any of his recent work.
What a weird story. Maybe Ben actually does have the tattoo, but he's embarrassed about it now because Garner and Lopez made fun of him about it. Who knows?
Maybe someone will snap a candid shirtless picture of Ben in the near future and we can get to the bottom of this. Until then, it will remain as one of life's crazy mysteries.
