Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice by Laura Anunnaki

Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice by Laura Anunnaki

Tattoos so extremely cute and glittery they'll make you weep with pure, unadulterated joy.

On her Instagram, Laura Anunnaki calls her work "magical tattoos with love and tons of glitter." She illustrates oodles of beloved characters from anime and cartoons as well as creatures like kittens with unicorn horns as if every single piece that she designs is engineered to give you goo-goo eyes.  Each of her tattoos is as colorful as a gum-ball machine, plush as a clump of cotton candy, and shiny as gemstone. Her portfolio is simply one of the sweetest around.

Anunnaki takes ideas that are already sickeningly cute, waves her magic tattoo machine, and miraculously makes them unspeakably precious. She doesn't just design tattoos of animals like bunny rabbits, she renders them in patches of pink flowers under the starriest of night skies. She illustrates her critters using all the colors of a rainbow, transforming them into literal eye-candy.

With her knack for capturing the dazzling aesthetic of things like glitter and jewelry, she bedazzles every aspect of her body art, making it sparklier than a showcase full of princess-cut diamonds. What seems like an impossible task is accomplished with some white ink and a expert understanding of light and how it reflects off of our favorite shiny things.

One of the best parts about exploring Anunnaki's portfolio is that you'll see some of the most charming figures from from fan-favorite anime and other cartoons. She imports cuddly Pokemon, as seen in her bejeweled depiction of Espeon, and other shows such as Sailor Moon, like her tattoo of Luna the magical cat. Here there are several examples of her take on characters from My Little Pony, too. Not all of her bubbly body art takes after famous animation though. Some of her pieces simply depict the most endearing members of the animal kingdom. One look at her glittery Fennec fox and your heart will likely melt into taffy.

Should you want to ooh and aww at more of Anunnaki's whimsical work, prance over to her Instagram. She owns Pink Ink in Mexico City and tattoos all over the world. If you want a piece of her that will inspire sparkles in the eyes any beholder, she can be reached via Facebook, but watch out, her brightly-colored book is currently closed.
