RIP Chester Bennington, Linkin Park Frontman

We pay tribute to an undeniable legend of rock with Linkin Park Tattoos.

The world of hard rock is reeling after another suicide has claimed one of its brightest stars. Chester Bennington, the front man of Linkin Park, was found dead in his home July 20th at the age of 41. Today, we pay tribute to man who sang the soundtrack to countless people’s teenage years with a collection of Linkin Park tattoos.

Bennington was born on March 20th, 1976 in Phoenix, Arizona. He had a rough childhood, turning to drugs in his teens to help deal with his parents’ divorce. He would later recall being bullied constantly while in high school and open up about suffering sexual abuse at a very young age. Eventually, he turned to poetry and art as an outlet to help him cope.

By 1993, he was singing in his first band. His second band, Grey Daze, recorded three albums in the early ‘90s before disbanding. An A&R man from Zomba Music hooked him up with an audition with the members of Xero, who would go on to change their name to Linkin Park. The band signed to Warner Brothers and released “Hybrid Theory,” one of the most successful records of 2000.

The band’s rise to stardom was meteoric. Singles from the record received heavy airplay and the band toured furiously in support. By the release of their second album, they had become one of the biggest names in heavy music. They enjoyed a great deal of success throughout their career, releasing well-received albums, touring the world, and accruing a large fanbase.

Bennington also fronted the band Dead By Sunrise, who released an album in 2009. From 2013-2015 he took over as the frontman for Stone Temple Pilots while lead singer Scott Weiland dealt with his own personal issues.

Sadly, Bennington took his own life after struggling with depression for most of it. Not only has it left a void in the hearts of millions of fans throughout the world but it also goes to show that this terrible affliction does not discriminate on the basis of money or fame. We mourn alongside the rest of the Linkin Park fans out there. Here are a few tattoos inspired by Bennington’s career of artistic output. We expect to see many new Linkin Park tattoos in the coming months in honor of the life of Chester Bennington.

These Linkin Park tattoos represent just an iota of the love the world had for Bennington. He will be sorely missed. If you are suffering from depression or feeling suicidal, we urge you to reach out to someone. The number for the National Suicide Prevention Line is 1-800-273-8255. Even if you are depressed but not considering suicide, open up to those closest to you. There’s no shame and no one has to be in this fight alone.
