Architecture tattoos are a very welcome trend in tattooing that blend two incredible art forms into one. Bringing the craftsmanship of building and design to the skin, tattoo artists are often asked to recreate people's favorite monuments, towers, buildings and homes. Perhaps it's because the old adage is true: home is where the heart is. These architecture tattoos are a nice reminder that although places may be transient, our memory of them, or the time we spent there is something that will last a lifetime...especially through the art of tattooing.
The Eiffel Tower is often seen represented in architecture tattoos. When built the tower received a lot of criticism of it's aesthetic and design, but over the decades it has become one of the most easily recognizable buildings of all time, not to mention a cultural icon for France. Originally built as the entrance to the 1889 World's Fair, it continues to draw visitors; almost 70 million people visited it in 2015. It also continues to spark inspiration as well as nostalgic thoughts of love and hope in millions, many of whom have had the tower inked onto their skin.
While the Eiffel Tower may have been the taller building when it was first created, Burj Khalifa in Dubai now holds the title of tallest building in the world. With 163 floors, it stands at 2,722 feet! Imagine that elevator ride....Although gorgeous buildings like the Eiffel Tower may inspire awe, some place don't have to have quite the reputation that these creations do. Some people get homes that are certainly more humble in origin, but nonetheless, just as important.
