Rest In Peace Lovely Soul: Avicii Dies at 28

As we mourn the loss of Swedish musician Avicii, we look back on his love for his fans, the tattoo community and artists of all kinds.

Today we mourn the loss of Swedish musician Avicii, who, after a long battle with numerous health issues, has departed this place. Born in Stockholm on Sept. 8, 1989, and releasing his first single in 2007, his music reached and inspired fans all over the globe. His retirement in 2016 from live performance only pushed him to create more music in studio, but the past stress on his body made it's unfortunate and ultimate impact today. A statement has been released that expresses, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii. He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”

About two years ago, Tattoodo covered his interview with iHeart radio where he spoke about his tattoos and the meaning behind them. Working with renowned artist Jun Cha, Avicii got a tattoo of Banksy's work, as well as a sleeve depicting the proverb "See no evil, hear no evil, say no evil." In keeping with Avicii's diverse interests, he also had Jun Cha design a greek mythology piece. Working closely with the artist, Avicii gave Jun Cha the idea, but let him have complete artistic license. Talking about his Banksy tattoo he says, "It was the first tattoo I did, and I kinda wanted to mix everything...I sat down with the tattoo artist, Jun Cha, and we spent more time actually laying out what to do. I was only going to do this when I was completely sure this was the only thing I was going to do."

His passing has sparked awareness around the world of the beauty, but fragility of life, as well as the importance of solidarity, support and love for all. Avicii's music and personal philosophies teach us to consistently remain hopeful, to create our life as we would like to see it. He leaves behind a legacy of incredible performances, music, and a documentary called Avicii: True Stories. Tattoodo sends thoughts of compassion to his family and fans in this difficult time.
