The Babe With The Power: Good Lookin' Lady Tattoos

These lovely lady tattoos are here to remind you that babes got the power! We run the world!

For aeons women have inspired for the finest of fine arts, helping to create poems, novels, paintings, sculptures, and more. These lady tattoos are not only homages to the work that women support, inspire, and create, but also show how much respect we have for the voices, and faces, of female-kind the world over. As you can see in this collection of lady tattoos, there are so many different types of women, so many different ways to capture the essence of what is female...and this is because it has no bounds. Remember that what society dictates as what is "female" is only a construct created by humans...any woman has the power to do just as she pleases, and be just what she pleases. Just like anyone else in the world!

These lady tattoos not only remind us that what we love about the tattoo community is that it refuses to adhere to any mainstream ideals or constraints, but also that women are super inspiring. Their power and allure, their smarts and sensuality, this has all even been idealized under the legend of the Nine Muses of Greek Mythology. Their names were Clio, Euterpe, Thalia, Melpomeni, Terpsichore, Erato, Polymnia, Ourania and Calliope. Not exactly names that lilt trippingly off the tongue, but each muse had her particular gifts...some invented and protected the arts of comedy, geometry, rhetorical speech, musical instruments, and more!

These days, especially considering the history of the female voice in the arts, it's hard to remember that women have had an integral role in the creation of this world...we are half of the population after all...and you can just check out Guerrilla Girls for more facts about women in the arts. One of our favorite pieces by the group, the poster points out that although 5% of the artists in the Modern Arts Section of the Metropolitan Museum of Art are female, 85% of the nudes are female. It's kind of like that old adage, women are to be seen, not heard. But times, they are thankfully a changing!! And these lady tattoos are here to remind you to show R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Just like the Aretha Franklin Song says!
