The Final Fight, The Final Season: Epic Game of Thrones Tattoos

In anticipation of the highly awaited final season, we bring you the most epic Game of Thrones tattoos and a top tattoo Tattoodo video.

Bitches, WINTER IS HERE. The final season of Game of Thrones premieres on HBO April 14th and we couldn't be more excited. How is Tattoodo celebrating? Well, in many a way. We put together a video of our Top 10 favorite Game of Thrones tattoos set to some epic as f*** music by guitar hero Kfir Ochaion. You can check out the videos below, and replay them as much as needed until GoT finally hits your screen! We also pulled together a super comprehensive collection of high quality pieces that includes some mind blowing Realism tattoos, as well as some illustrious Illustrative and hilarious Traditional.

We're hoping you have your Sunday on lock down for this day of all days. Shout out to the friends of mine who rented an entire mini theatre for the highly anticipated Game of Thrones season. And, if you have incredible friends like mine or are just part of the insane fan base as well, I'm guessing you also have some serious plans set for this intense moment of TV history...

It's been two years...a whole lotta time to await that said winter...and a whole lotta time to get your own Game of Thrones tattoo...That being said, perhaps waiting for the final season is a good idea. Obviously, just by checking out some of these pieces, each season gives us a whole new slew of inspiration for new ink. And although we don't actually know too much concrete info about this season....no matter how much they try to shroud the series with mystery, we do have some thoughts about what to expect.

Season 8, though only 6 episodes long, has a budget of $90 million dollars. It's the most expensive series yet from Game of Thrones, and with each episode clocking at over an hour of action, we're forecasting more awesome costumes, sets, and, of course, awe-inspiring CGI. This means more dragons, more direwolves, and more impressive battles. It also looks like Cersei Lannister may die, Jon will find out who his parents are, and Daenerys is going to become pregnant. All this info and the show hasn't even shown up yet. Isn't the internet a beautiful place? There are tons of other spoilers out there...but we won't ruin it for you because we're not shitty like that.

And although this is the final season, we're also hoping that like many television shows with a deeply devoted fan base (Sex and the City, The Simpsons, Star Trek, South Park), Game of Thrones will live on in off shoot series, and films. They already have five spin offs in the works. But Fast Company puts it best, "...if you think this is the last you’ll see of Westeros, remember what Cersei Lannister told Ullana in the season six finale: 'What? No. Today? You’re not going to die today. You’re not going to die for quite awhile.'"

If you are a fan of incredible TV, you may have also tuned into this year's Super Bowl (which was...by all accounts...lame) so along with a boring football game and hella confusing half-time show, it also means you got to peep that Bud Light X Game of Thrones commercial. They literally killed off the legendary Bud Knight in an effort to mirror the vast amounts of merciless bloodshed in the beloved HBO show. And this wasn't the end...according to Wired, "The marketing budget for this season of Game of Thrones, according to a recent report in The Wall Street Journal, is about $20 million, and frankly, it shows."

Not only are there ads, commercials, and merchandise everywhere (get your Funky Pop! figures of Daenerys Targaryen!) but Game of Thrones has also created partnerships with Adidas, Amazon, and a South by Southwest GoT Blood Drive. Literally. Give blood while surrounded by smoke, the Iron Throne, and a freakin' 24 person choir. There is even a Game of Thrones inspired album coming out with SZA, Lil Peep, The Weeknd, and soooo many more marvelous artists on it. For all y'all marketing whiz kids out there, you can check out that linked Wired article above for a whole bevy of ridiculous spectacles that 20 million bucks can buy.

Speaking of, how many Game of Thrones tattoos could that buy? If I'm going by our guide "How much does a tattoo cost?" it would be like...13,333 tattoo sleeves. So that's like...maybe around 20 body suits. Imagine 20 Game of Thrones full body tattoos. Now, that's something I'd like to see...

Of course, if you've watched the 67 episodes, or read the many articles, blogs, critiques, and more, about the show, you also know that there have been many concerns over the amount of brutal violence, rape, and nudity. Some say it's completely sensationalized, "sexploitative" and, perhaps, even glorified. A few people have gone so far as to stop promoting the show completely. Others disagree noting that these horrific events are integral to the plot line and that the series has stuck pretty close to the books. In 2015, someone actually sat down and figured out if that's true.

To Tafkar's findings, the acts of rape in the Game of Thrones TV series, to that date, were 50, and rape victims were 29. As for the books? Acts of rape in the ASOIAF book series, again to that date, were 214, and the number of rape victims was 117. "The books contain over 4 times as much rape as the show..." She even goes on to explain that her method of analysis may have underestimated the amount of actual rape in the books. Pretty wild. Or is it? Considering this is HBO....

And although Game of Thrones is a fantasy based series, apparently a lot of experts on the affairs of the middle ages are getting questions about whether or not rape was so extremely common back then. A quick scan through that particular linked article and it sounds like humans are just kind of awful no matter what age they happen to be in.

All that rape and violence aside, and as some of these Game of Thrones tattoos wonderfully depict, there are some incredibly resilient and powerful female characters...something that, I think, the fantasy and sci fi genres have always been pretty good about. It's no surprise that some of these pieces in this particular collection highlight the female protagonists of GoT. Pretty much all of them have their moments of empowerment, and there are some seriously stand out ones that we love.

Daenerys Targaryen is an unstoppable force: she's The Mother of Dragons who is, for lack of a better word, a total feminist babe who frees slaves, takes over nations and has an army that is totally devout. You'll note that the 2nd tattoo in this collection is actually on The Mother herself, Emilia Clarke. She's not the only cast member to get inked. Sophie Turner, aka Sansa Stark showed off her Game of Thrones tattoo (also a lovely part of this GoT collection obvs) on the Late Late Show saying, "Yeah, actually while I was getting it done, people advised me not to because it looked like I was giving everything away, but I wasn’t," she said. "It’s just a quote from last season. But everyone figures the pack really does survive, but it’s just a moral that I like to live by." Was that a slip, or....

Looks like Sophie Turner's tattoo artist Lauren Winzer is actually giving out free tattoos. Not sure if she's still banging 'em out, but if you're in London, I'd give her a ring.

Whatever your plans, we hope you dig this special look at all the super best high quality Game of Thrones tattoos that we could find, as well as the nice top tattoo video we threw together just for you crazy lovely tattooed GoT freaks and, of course, those sick guitar riffs by Kfir. We're taking bets to see which character will die in the most horrific way...and we're crossing our fingers that the Night King, or maybe Cersei Lannister, meet up with their maker. Karma's a bitch, as is the wrath of the HBO writer gods D.B. Weiss and David Benioff. Not to mention George R. R. Martin who we can all thank for being a total insane genius and pulling this whole thing off so that we can sit on our couches, biting our fingernails, and gritting our teeth while enjoying copious amounts of brutality. Plus, dragons. Don't forget the dragons.
