Neo-traditional lady heads are always beautiful. With a slightly illustrative element, and an amount of detail that would make a Where’s Waldo illustrator jealous, neo-traditional ladies are some of the best, and artist Guen Douglas’ neo-traditional ladies are true characters.
Based out of Taiko Gallery in Berlin, Germany, Douglas’ ladies are chock-full of detail and a bit of sass. Taking extreme care in even the smallest details, the prominence of a collar bone, the stripes on the belly of a tabby cat atop the Cat Lady’s head, and even the delicate fringe on the fortune teller’s head scarf all combine to give you a feel for the depth of these ladies. Douglas even manages to add a sense of mischievousness behind their eyes, each lady hinting that she might know something that you don’t.
