This years lineup of tattooists is, as usual, an epitome encompassing some of the best and brightest talent around the world. From Latvia to Thailand, Brazil to China, Australia, Italy and, quite literally, everywhere in between, each artist is bringing their high quality craft in celebration of what our community has to offer. San Diego's own Bill Canales, Oakland based Dillon Forte, Lara Scotton from NYC's famed tattoo studio and museum Daredevil, as well as Paul Dobleman from Spider Murphy's will be setting up shop for the weekend. Niki Norberg from Sweden, Copenhagen's Mumia, Spain based Oscar Hove and even some of the crew from Three Tide Tattoo Tokyo will be there: Ganji, Hide Ichibay, and Mutsuo. It's a veritable who's who of the creme de la creme of tattoo culture. Tattoodo ambassador's Guen Douglas, Morg Armeni, and Beau Brady will also be representing...but tattoo artists plying their craft isn't the only thing you have to look forward to.
Once again the Fuel Girls will be taking the stage in multiple performances set across the weekend. Eating fire, incredible aerial acrobatics, and out of this world pyrotechnics will have your jaw on the floor. Shibari artist Figure of A will surprise with their first performance at the London Tattoo Convention, using rope to tightly bind and suspend in beautiful patterns along the body. Vans will also be participating this year with a half pipe and demos from their top riders and skaters. Not to mention a special appearance from skateboarding legend, Steve Olson. You'll even be able to catch a ride, if you like, with free skateboarding lessons!
Shawn Barber will be hosting a live painting seminar, along with an exhibition, as well as Benjamin Laukis and Mayonaize who will be collaborating on a live art show concentrating on experimental lettering. Tons of art will be there for your viewing pleasure: Stef Bastian is hosting another awesome exhibition fundraiser, The Tattoo Fan Club, to support Operation Underground Railroad. Hanumantra will be unveiling his Blackwork project Faces of the Future, Zozios will be presenting a collection of portrait photography featuring Horyoshi III, and a special exhibition of the late Felix Leu will be in display curated by his wife Loretta Leu.
In addition, there will be live music "from The Quireboys, Never The Bride, Hell’s Bells (an all female AC/DC tribute band) and Urban Voodoo Machine. Gretsch Guitars Roadhouse stage sees live blues from The Grimms, Big Joe Louis and Dusk Brothers and the chance to enter a charity auction for Nordoff Robbins to win one of five customized guitars being displayed over the weekend." Nordoff Robbins is a deeply respected non-profit musical therapy organization that offers care and enrichment to "people affected by life limiting illness, isolation or disability. It supports thousands of people through its own centers and by working in partnership with organizations including care homes, schools and hospitals. Its expert music therapists can help people with dementia reconnect with family members, children with autism to speak for the first time and give those living with mental health problems moments of genuine calm and peace."
Bringing tattooing, fine art, music, entertainment and more, the London Tattoo Convention connects the community in a unique, interactive, and highly inclusive atmosphere.
