New Mexico, also known as the Land of Enchantment, is a beautiful state filled with mountain ranges and high desert, where life moves at a leisurely pace and every day has a siesta. Though some people might argue in favor of Santa Fe, we all really know that Albuquerque is the most exciting urban center in the state. It has a fantastic vibe.

2. Route 66 Fine Line Tattoo

This shop is owned and operated by one of the most famous tattooists in New Mexico, Brian Everett, who is frequently credited with having brought the art form to New Mexico. Alongside him, the shop has several other incredibly talented artists that create astounding body art.

3. Star Tattoo

This spot has an excellent team of artists, several of whom are award winners. Their specialty there is traditional American tattoos, so if you want some classic iconography like eagles, skulls, and snakes, hit these guys up. They're great at it.

1. Mary and Tito's Cafe

If you're in New Mexico, you better try the Mexican cuisine, because it is some of the best in the world. Mary and Tito's Cafe's food is so good it won the James Beard Award in 2010. Make sure to try their signature red chili dishes if you pay this place a visit.

2. Corn Maiden

Corn Maiden offers some of the finest dining in Albuquerque, so if you're up for a swanky night out, this is your destination. It is on the outskirts of the city and has amazing views of the surrounding mountains. Their dinner menu is purely gourmet and they have an astounding wine list as well.

Albuquerque's zoo is just wonderful. It's not incredibly large, but all of the exhibits are great. They even have a resident polar bear that you can always see from the riverwalk next to the Rio Grand if you don't want to pay the entrance fee.

2. Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum

Albuquerque is famous for its International Balloon Fiesta, in which hot air balloon fanatics travel from all around the world to fill New Mexico's sky with color every October. The most recent one just happened, so if you're coming to town during another month, you can still get in on the balloon action by going to the Anderson-Abruzzo balloon museum.

1. Anodyne

Anodyne is the coolest bar in Albuquerque because of its awesome collection of pool tables. Over ten of these red-felted beauties line the center of the floor and they even have a snooker table for you real billiard nuts out there. The bar is also spectacular.

2. Q Bar

If you want a really classy drinking experience, the the Q Bar is for you. This place has the most luxurious interior in town, and they're liquor selection is all top-shelf. Make sure to wear your formal attire if heading out to this joint though.
